Burnaby is located directly east of Vancouver, in the centre of the Burrard Peninsula. Burnaby had a population of 274,425 in 2024 and supports major commercial town centres, high-density residential areas, two Sky-Train rapid transit lines, technology research, business parks and film studios. It is home to Simon Fraser University's main campus, with more than 30,000 students and 950 staff, as well as the British Columbia Institute of Technology's main campus with more than 49,000 students.
