Chinatown

Did you know that one of the largest Chinatowns in North America is found right in our beautiful city of Vancouver?

Chinese settlers in 1885 established one of the city's earliest, most unique communities. Accordingly, in 2010 Vancouver Chinatown was designated as a national Historic Site of Canada. Since that time, it has undergone many transformations. The streetscape is characterized by distinctive "recessed balcony" style of architecture and unique dragon adorned lampposts. Modernization has now given the area a distinct character.
