Mount Pleasant Condos for Sale

Main Street was Vancouver's first Street Car suburb. Residential developments began in the 1880's and before the area was mostly built out with single-family homes and a few apartments buildings. The commercial core developed along Main Street between Kingsway and Broadway attempt to expend business up the hill encouraged by the federal government imposing Post Office failed to attract investment.

The area never prospered and became run down in the second half of the twentieth century. As a result, many old houses remain intact. The rehabilitation and gentrification of Mount Pleasant began in the 1970's and continue today. The Fairview Slopes were re-zoned in the 1970's to encourage condominium construction within tightly controlled building envelopes to ensure that every building had a share of the Mountain Views.
